Shirlfriend, certified Cannabis educator, is a bold voice in the cannabis and wellness space, transforming stigma into empowerment through her signature event series, BrunchNBlaze. After spending over 30 years in corporate America—and facing numerous back surgeries, bipolar disorder and a severed relationship with her financial firm over her cannabis advocacy—Shirl made a powerful pivot.
She now leads dynamic, education-focused experiences blending entertainment, infused cuisine, and culture. Her mission is clear: to celebrate the benefits of cannabis, advocate for equitable industry access, and give overlooked entrepreneurs a platform to thrive.

After overcoming multiple back surgeries and transitioning out of a 30+ year corporate career, she found renewed purpose in advocating for the benefits of cannabis for self-care and medical use. She went on to launch Brunch N’ Blaze, an experience that blends cannabis culture with comedy, gourmet food, and education. Through her platform, she continues to use her voice to raise awareness about the injustices of incarceration for cannabis-related offenses and to inspire open, informed conversations around cannabis advocacy.
She hosts immersive cannabis-themed events in Charlotte, North Carolina, creating an inclusive space where both users and non-users can learn about and celebrate cannabis culture.
Her events blend gourmet cuisine, interactive games, live performances, and a growing network of local vendors — all designed to showcase creativity and community. With big-name talent like comedian Luenell headlining past events, she continues to elevate the standard for cannabis-inspired entertainment in the Carolinas.
